All tracks by Jon Oliva, Criss Oliva & Paul O'Neill, except "Silk and Steel", by Criss Oliva and Paul Silver.

The lyric sheet omits the lyrics for "The Unholy".

Original CD bonus track:
11. Thorazine Shuffle (04:42)

Music videos were made for Gutter Ballet and When the Crowds Are Gone.

The band had originally recorded demos of a different bunch of songs for this album, but most were scrapped. From those that weren't, "The Gates of Hell" was retitled as "The Unholy", and "Thorazine Shuffle" was used as a bonus track on the original CD.
The remaining songs remained unreleased for about a decade, until they appeared as bonus tracks on reissues of "Sirens" and "The Dungeons are Calling".

Chris Caffery was credited with guitars and keyboards and is pictured in the album's booklet "both to prepare the fans for the line up they'd see on tour and confirm his permanent member status", but did not participate in the recording.

Though uncredited, Jon Oliva plays drums on some of the album tracks, and Criss Oliva plays bass on the same tracks.

Reissues:
CD by Edel Records in 1997 with the bonus track:
12. All That I Bleed (Piano Version) (04:35)

CD by SPV GmbH on June 10th 2002 with the bonus tracks:
12. Hounds (Live) (07:20)
13. When the Crowds Are Gone (Live) (07:07)
