The fourth and final chapter of the "Emerald Sword" saga.

"Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness" is split into three parts:
1. Angeli di Pietra Mistica
2. Warlords' Last Challenge
3. ...and the Legend Ends...

Each part of the song has it's own index in the cue sheet, which means that they can be ripped as separate tracks.

Alex Holzwarth appears in the photoshoot but did not record the drums. Patrice Guers appears in the "Personal Thanks" section but did not play on the album and does not appear in the photoshoot.

Recorded at Gate & Pathway Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany between September and November 2001. Mixed and mastered at Pathway Studio between November and December 2001.

The CD version with DVD and the Double Picture Disc LP - Ltd Edition contain the bonus track "Rise from the Sea of Flames" (03:57) placed before "Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness" at #10. The vinyl edition comes in a gatefold cover that has the complete design of the artwork on the front and back, and the lyrics + some pictures on the inside. Also included is a huge poster with the complete album cover art. Limited to 4000 copies worldwide.

The DVD edition is limited to 34.000 copies, and contains the "Emerald Sword Saga - The Videoclips"
