Spectrum of Death was recorded at Opus Recording (later known as Wave Digital once they removed the 2'' tape machines in favor of Akai Digital Audio Machines) in Gurnee, Illinois.

The album was originally released by the Mexican label Avanzada Metallica on LP. Avanzada Metallica also released the album on CD in 1991 (cat # KCT 23) (confirmed by the band).

Reissues in chronological order:
• In 1989 by Edge Records as Lock Up Your Children.
• CD in 1992 by Grind Core Records (89803-2).
• Tape in 1992 by Metal Mind Productions MMP0031) licensed via Grind Core.
• CD in 2005 by Keltic Records with the Destruction System demo added as bonus tracks. This version was released without the band's consent and is considered a bootleg.
• LP in 2006 by No Colours Records. Limited to 300 copies. Also a bootleg.
• CD in 2008 by Power Play Records.
• LP in 2012 by Relapse Records

The Grindcore version was bootlegged in Russia in 2013 and sold at online places like Ebay.
