First Leviathan album recorded with an acoustic drum kit, unlike the electronic kit used for all preceding releases.
Released in a gatefold 2xLP on Heavy Vinyl including 12-page 12"x12" booklet with spot-matte gloss printing plus bonus track ('Perverse Calculus'). Limited to 1000 copies (500 in black - 500 in red) on Moribund and 500 copies (all black) on Debemur Morti Productions.
Reissued by Funeral Industries on double LP.
According to interviews, the album was originally the second Lurker of Chalice full-length (then called Perverse Calculus) and was to be released via Azentrius's Battle Kommand Records. However, due to the contract that Wrest had signed with Moribund Records, he was apparently prohibited from releasing a Lurker of Chalice full-length comprised partly of what had once been Leviathan material, as they owned the copyrights. Moribund's lawyers issued a cease and desist order, either to Wrest or Battle Kommand (it's unclear exactly which), which ultimately affected and delayed the Nachtmystium / Leviathan split which was scheduled to be released on Southern Lord Recordings in late 2007.
