"Grunwald (Anno Satanae 1410)" by
Scythian was inspired by the Battle of Grunwald - one of the bloodiest engagements of the late medieval period, where the armies of the German Teutonic Order were cut down by the combined forces of Poland and Lithuania. Much of the track and lyrics were composed by
A. Satyrus, who lived in self-imposed exile in Poland during the winter of 2010.
"Titanomachy" (War of the Titans) by
Kawir was composed by Thertonax (aka
Therthonax) in 2010, also under exile. Titanomachy refers to the ten-year war in Greek mythology where the Olympian deities clashed with the titans of Mount Othrys, taken from the poetry of Hesiod.
The tracks and artwork were chosen as part of a thematic collaboration between
Kawir and
Scythian.
