Crimes of Virtuosity was recorded in 1996 and first released on JVC Records in Asia in late 1997. C.O.V. was remixed for it's European release on Mascot Records in 1998 as an HDCD.

The album was again later released in 2000 via mp3.com with 2 bonus tracks was remastered for sale at Byrd's page at mp3.com page (now redundant).

'Crimes Of Virtuosity' sees Byrd pay tribute to his influences with a collection of original songs. Also includes a burning cover of 'Heaven On Their Minds' from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. 'COV' is perhaps Byrd's most guitar heavy release.

Re-released in 2005 on Lion Music with some new songs:
4. Shot Down in Flames
10. Bolero No. 40 mvt. 3

Recording information:

Recorded at Northwest Productions, Seattle, Washington.
