Lawrence Mackrory was session vocalist for the album because they could not find a permanent vocalist. Later on the vocals were re-recorded by David Fremberg. That version was released in November 2001 with two new tracks added; "Journey of Polyspheric Experience" and "Eclipse". The re-release also has a second CD which has the original version of the album.
The original release has a slightly differently colored cover.

The album Extension of the Wish was re-released in the US 2004 with the title Extension of the Wish - Final Extension, and contains the two bonus tracks from the European re-release, but not the second disc with Lawrence Mackory on vocals.
