All songs by D. Cavanagh except 2 by D. Cavanagh, V. Cavanagh, J. Douglas
Shortly after the release of (previous album) "A Fine Day to Exit", Danny left Anathema, and relocated to Ireland to work with Duncan Patterson in Antimatter. That did not work out, and Danny returned to Anathema with a full album's worth of songs, which became "A Natural Disaster".
The album title was suggested to Danny Cavanaugh by Duncan Patterson, while in Ireland.
In a 2003 interview, Danny explained that he wrote "Violence" for Cradle of Filth, but "never sent it to them". The initial version recorded by Anathema was also longer, and ended with a sung part, featuring Anna Stone, a friend of the band. But they eventually decided that "it had to be an instrumental and nothing else could have finished the album".
Re-released on 180 grams double vinyl by Peaceville Records in 2011, both limited to 2000 copies
Recorded and mixed at Parkgate Studios, Battle, Summer 2003.
Tracks 2 & 7 mixed at Electric Mayhem, Nottingham.
