The full name of this release is "Barathrum: Visita Interiora Terræ Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem", which is an alchemical motto that translates to "Visit the interior of the earth and purifying you will find the hidden stone", and refers to a process of internal spiritual purification.
The band recorded a promotional video, which contains three songs: An Involution of Thorns, Fantasizing to the Third of the Pagan Vision and An Evolution of Horns. Its length is 11:40, almost drawn up as a short movie with open and end credits.
Originally released on CD by Gothic Records in a total edition of 900 copies, three different pressings existing:
- First edition with "ABSU B.V.I.T.R.I.O.L." written on the frontcover, white tray card and various spelling errors
- Second edition with black band logo and full album title on the front cover
- Third edition without the band logo and title on front cover, black try card
Reissued in 1994 by Osmose Productions with different cover artwork on CD and LP. Reissued again in 1997 in a digipack with the original artwork and three bonus tracks:

Picture LP reissue limited to 800 copies (200 copies including a shirt and a patch) released in 2004 by Bestial Onslaught Productions.
Re-released again 24 Jan 2011 by The Crypt as a 3LP box set ltd. to 500 copies (200 black, 300 red/black marbled), two gatefold sleeves, original cover art posters and booklet, 180-gram vinyl.
