The full name of this release is "Barathrum: Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultul Lapidem", which is an alchemical motto that translates to "Visit the interior of the earth and purifying you will find the hidden stone", and refers to a process of internal spiritual purification.

Produced by Absu and Gothic Records. Executive production by Osmose Productions.

Original CD by Gothic Records was limited to 900 copies and didn't feature either the band's logo, or the album's title on it. However there is also Gothic Records version with the album title on the front cover. Picture LP limited to 800 copies (200 copies including a shirt and a patch).

Reissued in 1994 by Osmose with different cover artwork. Reissued again in 1997 in a digipack with the original artwork and three bonus tracks:
8. The Coming of War (Live in Belgium, April 21, 1995)
9. The Thrice Is Greatest to Ninnigal (Live in Germany, April 26, 1995)
10. Never Blow Out the Eastern Candle (Live in Belgium, April 21, 1995)

Warning - Osmose CD presses dating from February 2001 and later may contain a copy-protection method which renders the CD completely unreadable in PCs and certain modern Hi-Fi systems. This isn't indicated anywhere on the packaging.

Re-released again 24 Jan 2011 by The Crypt as a 3LP box set ltd. to 500 copies (200 black, 300 red/black marbled), two gatefold sleeves, original cover art posters and booklet, 180-gram vinyl.

The band recorded promotional video, which contains three songs: An Involution of Thorns, Fantasizing to the Third of the Pagan Vision and An Evolution of Horns. Its length is 11:40, almost drawn up as a short movie with open and end credits.
